PrideSOS 2019 Fundraiser: OutRight International

Following the success of our 2018 fundraiser for multiple charities around the world, we have decided to fundraise again for this year. We have decided to choose the incredible OutRight International to focus on fundraising for this year.

“OutRight Action International fights for human rights for LGBTIQ people everywhere. OutRight works at the international, regional and national levels to research, document, defend, and advance human rights for LGBTIQ people around the world.”

This year, we became increasingly aware of how compromised the human rights of LGBTQIA+ people around the world are. We were always aware that there was never equality but we didn’t realise the extent some countries treat the community. When the Brunei law was put into place, the ambassadors of PrideSOS were really hit by it and wanted to be able to do something to make a difference. It was even something 5SOS were vocal about as they shared the #BoycottBrunei movement. Though the law was soon lifted, we were still shocked at what we discovered. That’s why we decided that OutRight was the ideal charity to support.

OutRight Was founded in 1990 as the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) and changed their name in 2015 to reflect their long standing commitment to advancing the human rights concerns of all LGBTIQ people. Thier full name is OutRight Action International, or OutRight for short.

The current issues that OutRight are working on include Legal Discrimination, Privacy and Family, Criminal Injustice, Crackdown on Activism, Trans and Intersex Rights and Safety and Secruity.

So, how are we fundraising for them?

We have merch available which proceeds go towards the fundraiser. We will also be hosting raffle giveaways through pride month and beyond which you can make a small donation to enter to win some amazing prizes. We also have our donation page which you can just donate to directly as and when you’d like!
